Education and Poverty in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
Written by J. Mitchell Aberman. Published July 2008. 12 pp.
The message is this:
Educating every child to his or her full potential will cost more than we spend now. But the price will be cheap compared with the lifetime costs of supporting and possibly incarcerating people that public schools fail to prepare to be contributing members of society.
"Education and Poverty in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools" was written by J. Mitchell Aberman, a CMS parent and business lawyer in private practice. Aberman is a board member of the Fellowship.
The paper inaugurates an "Issues in Education" series that will present proposals on community issues that the Fellowship's board considers worthy of broader discussion. Papers in the series may or may not represent the views of the Fellowship.
